1. Commitment: Snowboarding is an activity on a particular time and day. You have to plan the trip and commit to it. Snowboarding is a fairly hard sport to learn right off the bat, and many people quit the first day because of the time require to learn the sport. It typical takes a full day of snowboarding to understand the basics (and by full day, I mean at least 6-8 hours). Learning how to snowboard is really not that hard, but it does require a lot of commitment and willingness to learn. If you give a 100% commitment you can learn how to snowboard in a full day. Planning a snowboard trip also requires commitment as well. Sometimes planning a snowboard trip normally takes weeks and even sometimes months in advance. You have to commit to the trip and be able to plan around your it. Commitment is part of snowboarding and is requirement of snowboarding.

2. It's a Workout: One does not need to be in prefect physical fitness condition in order to snowboard. However, it puts a lot physical stress on the body. Snowboarding can be a workout in itself. According to Fitday.com, " Not only does [snowboarding] improve balance, focus, and concentration, but it also offers an intense, calorie-burning cardio workout. It strengthens major muscle groups as well. Snowboarding also provides both an aerobic and an anaerobic workout." (FitDay.com)
So what is an aerobic or an anaerobic workout? According to ScienceDaily.com, " Anaerobic exercise comprises brief, strength-based activities, such as sprinting or bodybuilding, whereas aerobic exercise is centered around endurance activities, such as marathon running or long-distance cycling." (ScienceDaily.com). Meaning that not only is snowboarding considered a cardiovascular workout but also a body building workout. So, snowboarding is definitely considered a sport. Not only is it a sport, but it has been an Olympic sport since it was added in the 1998 Winter Olympics. Snowboarding is a great sport that not only provides a great workout but it is also an internationally recognized sport. |

3. Community: Being able to snowboard allows you to be apart of a huge community of other people who love to snowboard and ski as well. Not only do you get to meet numerous amount people who also like to board, but you have the opportunity to make life-long friends who also share the passion for snowboarding. I have made numerous of friends just by the fact that we both knew how to snowboard. The snowboarding community is one of the best part of being a boarder and even a skier. Not only do I get an 8 hour workout everyday I snowboard, but I get to be apart of a huge community that shares the same passion as I do.
