Park City Mountain Resort is a gorgeous mountain. The snow is amazing and the mountain is just breath taking. I've had the pleasure of being in Park City for a whole week. In my opinion, Park City is my second choice of all mountains I have boarded at. The reason why it is not first in my opinion is because Park City is way too far for the average trip. Its roughly about a 10 hour drive with no traffic.
By the numbers: -19 Lifts - 114 Trails - 3,300 Skiable Areas - 4 Terrain Parks, 2 Half Pipes - Hours of Operation: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Night Skiing Available: up until 8:00 p.m. *All information is taken from Park City's website |
Pros
1. Park City has a hotel resort that is literally on the mountain. The base lift is a 2 minute walk from the resort. This is convenient because you won't have to fight for parking or walking 30 minutes to the mountain.
2. Snow quality is amazing at Park City. Even though majority of mountains, Park City averages about 60-70 inches of snow a year (Nov. to April). Numbers from Park City's website. 3. Park City, just like Mammoth, has multiple trails for each level of difficulty so there is diversity. 4. There are 4 terrain parks with 2 half pipes, and one of those half pipes, the Eagle Superpipe, hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. 5. The night riding is amazing. Not only it is beautiful at night time, but they actually have quite a few runs open unlike other resorts who only have 2-3 runs open. 6. Park City is not as nearly as expensive as Mammoth and even has better deals |
Cons
1. Distance. As I said, Park City is simply too far for the average boarder living in southern California or any part of California.
2. Unlike Snow Summit, if you want to go night skiing, you have to buy another night skiing ticket. The prices for those are not currently up at the moment, but you can check at their website. Other than these two, I cannot think of anything bad about Park City. |
